About

My name is Eric Hatch and I am a full-bore creative, both a fine-art photographer and a professional writer. Am looking for connections in the museum / art exhibition world to display my work on glacial retreat and addiction.

Eric K. Hatch is known as both an author and photographer. As a writer, Eric Hatch has won two national awards. As a photographer, he is best known for Faces of Addiction and for Glaciers in Retreat, both collections of powerful photos addressing socially important issues.

The North (Yukon, Alaska, Iceland)

I have had the good fortune to visit some of the earth’s most beautiful and fragile environments. My goal is to capture truthfully the nature of the place, as well as to share my own feelings as I saw the scene. In the case of wildlife, I’m the visitor; the wildlife are the regular inhabitants and I treat them and their homes with honesty and respect. Some of them can bite back!

People

Portraiture is more than the representation of the face. It reveals the personality, the experience, the situation, or the spirit of the subject. Black and white portraiture, in particular, removes the distraction of color and focuses on what matters most in the portrait. Almost all of these are "environmental portraits," taken where the person lives or works or plays. Today, I only make these portraits on location, using available light as much as possible.

Abstractions

My abstraction photos invite viewers into a world where emotion and imagination take center stage. Through bold compositions, layered textures, and vibrant contrasts, these images blur the line between reality and interpretation. Each abstract piece is a visual exploration—capturing feeling over form and allowing personal meaning to emerge with every glance.

City Structure

Buildings & Other Structures

Here you'll see buildings, architectural detail, and infrastructure. Key features are repeating forms, perspective, and detail. These spaces evoke a wide range of feelings and also raise questions. Sometimes the question is "how did they DO that?" and sometimes it is "why did they do that?"
